CROUS FLAT-SHARING: A SOLUTION TO STUDENT ACCOMMODATION !
With its many advantages, flat-sharing is becoming more and more popular. Here at the Crous we’ll tell you why it’s a great solution and how it works.
AVANTAGES OF flat-SHARING
Flat-sharing through the Crous has several advantages:
- Living with friends,siblings or as a couple.
Flat-sharing helps you meet different people and feel at home in the city and on the campus.
- Bigger and cheaper
Flat-sharing means that you can live in a bigger and more comfortable flat while paying a reasonable rent as you can split it between two or three flatmates.
Flatmates don’t only share the rent, they also share expenses, like bills and groceries, this represents an economic advantage.
- Friendly environment
Flat-sharing alsomeans sharing good moments with people you can count on.
DIFFERENT TYPES OF ACCOMODATION
Whatever type of Crous accommodation you choose, it will have a kitchen as part of the living room, common sanitary facilities and 2 or 3 separate bedrooms. Internet access is available in every Crous residence, so you can work from home no problem!
All Crous shared accommodation is located near the universities.
When you share Crous accommodation, you can apply for housing benefits (CAF) and joint surety: Visale.
Shared accommodation is available at l’Académie de Grenoble for a period of 10-12 months depending on the residence.
HOW TO GET SHARED ACCOMMODATION?
Although priority is given to grant holders, all students can apply for accommodation.
The procedure is the same as when you apply for a room in a Crous residence:
- You have between the 15 January and the 31 May to create and send your Social Student Dossier (DSE) request at www.messervices.etudiant.gouv.fr. You have to renew your Social Student Dossier request every year.
- Registeryour application for shared accommodation in the desired accommodation section.
- At the same timesend an e-mail to the housing division mentioning the names of the people with whom you wish to share your accommodation.
