Once your application for Grenoble education district has been accepted, we strongly recommend that you start making enquiries about suitable accommodation PRIOR TO your arrival in Grenoble.
Applying and searching for accommodation are two different procedures.
Please note: even though your admission to a higher education institution of the district has been approved, this does NOT necessarily mean that you will obtain CROUS housing in a residence hall.
You will appreciate that CROUS housing cannot be guaranteed.
If housing is not confirmed to you prior to your arrival, this may have a detrimental effect on your studies.
For individual international students, university accommodation will be provided according to academic requirements
If you registered for a Master's degree, you will be given priority.
If you registered for another degree, the CROUS will consider your application according to availability.
We will offer university accommodation for a maximum period of 3 years, in order to provide accommodation to a large number of students.
If you wish for an extension after your first-year tenancy agreement has expired, you will have to apply again.
* If you wish to apply for the district of Grenoble ONLY, please contact Pôle Logement (see address above), to receive an application form on paper, that you will need to complete and return, with all the required documents.
Gaining admittance
If your application for university accommodation has been accepted, a deposit is payable within the time limits, and the following documents must be provided to reception on arrival :
* A joint and several guarantee form, completed by your guarantor
You must have a suitable guarantor. He/she must reside within the European Union, and agree to guarantee your rental payments under the tenancy agreement, in the event of you failing to pay.
Your guarantor will need to complete and return 2 guarantee forms, given by the CROUS, and provide the following documents :
- verifiable employment (last 3 pay slips) or documentation regarding sources of income
- a copy of identification
- a copy of a utility bill confirming the address
- his/her bank account details
* The following documents:
- a copy of identification
- a copy of university registration
- your bank account details
- a copy of a liability insurance that will cover possible damages
- 2 photo ID
Please note : if any document is missing, you will not gain admittance to your accommodation.
If your university housing application has been turned down, it will be up to you to look into other sources of possible accommodation.
You should know that minimum living cost is expected to be around 600 € per month
You may also need to include additional costs at the start of your course, such as university tuition fees, health insurance, and accommodation costs.
