* Your parents are employees, and are covered by the main fund of the public health insurance or by the the special fund for agricultural workers:
You will be exempt from charges, but you will need to choose one of the 2 complementary health insurance centers (above listed) which will cover your health expenditures.

* Your parents are covered by special funds, as they work in the following branches: EDF-GDF, RATP, SNCF companies, or military professions, or crafts, retail business or liberal professions excluding medical and paramedical professions.

International students under 28 years of age

must join the French student health care, excluding students from European countries who can prove (with documentary evidence) that they are already covered by their home country health insurance.

Complementary health insurance

Complementary health insurance is optional, but it is strongly recommended.

It covers all or part (depending on the one you choose) of health expenditures which are not reimbursed by the public health care system.
Some insurance packages include other options, such as liability insurance.
Some will also provide medical coverage to International students who attend a French university.
